Much like springs, wire forms are generally fashioned from round wire and then bent into shapes engineered to meet a specific need. Rather than employing a coiled body, wire forms rely on angles and lengths to provide resistance and support. Hooks and bends often act as attachment points for the device.
Many different industries utilize a variety of custom made wire forms in their products. These individual component designs can vary widely in material type, diameter, strength, form and function. There are not many “standard” wire forms available. Since standard wire forms are not always appropriate for all applications, our experienced craftsmen are able to meet individual application challenges by utilizing their professional experience, flexible tooling and automated production capabilities.
Your custom wire form component can be readily designed and manufactured upon request. Each design is reviewed individually. If you can create a drawing or rough sketch of the part you need and e-mail or fax it to us, we will review the information and advise if we can manufacture it and the cost. A substantial portion of our capabilities are based on wire forms, so there is a good chance we will be able to help you.
Recent advances in CNC manufacturing technology have significantly lowered the cost of creating prototypes of complex three dimensional wire form parts. The Industrial Spring engineering staff gladly assists customers with part design and we often produce wire form prototypes to help make sure components will fit the geometric requirements of the application.
We are capable of forming round and shaped wire up to .500” diameter. We can do short prototype runs or higher production quantities.
